Second-Hand or New, We Source It
A replacement transmission doesn't have to mean a dealer price tag. We track down the right gearbox for your exact car and give you the options side by side.
Second-hand: a good used transmission matched to your model and engine. Usually the most affordable way to get the car going again, and a sensible choice for older vehicles.
New: a brand-new unit when you want maximum peace of mind or plan to keep the car for years.
We'll explain the price difference and what makes sense for your car, then you decide. No pressure either way.
When a Transmission Needs Attention
Not every problem means a new gearbox. We diagnose it first, and if a fluid service, sensor or repair will fix it, we'll tell you.

Transmission Replacement FAQ
Is a second-hand transmission a good idea?
For many cars, yes. A good used gearbox matched to your model is often the most cost-effective fix, especially on older vehicles. We'll talk you through the options before you decide.
Can you get a brand-new transmission?
Yes. If you'd prefer new, we'll source one for your car and quote it alongside a second-hand option where one is available.
Do I definitely need a new transmission?
Not always. We diagnose the fault first. Sometimes a fluid service, a sensor, a solenoid or a smaller repair is enough, and we'll tell you if that's the case.
How long does a transmission replacement take?
It depends on the car and how quickly the gearbox can be sourced. We'll give you a realistic timeframe with the quote.
